We
all had a brilliant weekend, despite getting walloped in
the rugby. The hotel was very nice and the transfers were
all on time etc. Everyone we spoke to seemed to agree that
it was a big success and thus will hopefully be repeated
next year.

Sunderland FC
It was a great pleasure to welcome Sunderland AFC to Marpafut this
summer. One of the Premierships largest clubs spent 4 days with us
at Marpafut.
Although the club have not been performing as well as expected over the last
6 months, there is no forgetting the job, that their now under fire manager has
done, to get them where they are. Despite this, the noticeable feeling was the
great team spirit in the camp.
This trip was put together by the HI Group, who
financed the stay by organising 2 friendly matches. The first against top La
Liga team "Seville" and the second against Spanish Second Division
side "Algeciras CF". Although both games ended in defeat for Sunderland,
the exercise was to help regain match fitness before the start of the new Premiership
season.
Together with 4 days spent relaxing at the spectacular "Alabardero Resort" (22
room luxury hotel), daily training, and some tough matches, it was a very successful
camp, and we look forward to welcoming Sunderland back for a mid-season break
in February 2003.
