We
all had a brilliant weekend, despite getting walloped in
the rugby. The hotel was very nice and the transfers were
all on time etc. Everyone we spoke to seemed to agree that
it was a big success and thus will hopefully be repeated
next year.

Great Britain Rugby
We were very pleased to welcome the Great Britain Rugby Squad
to Marbella last week , the 30th of October 2002.
The team was here to prepare for their Test series against
the almighty New Zealand team. All three matches will be shown
live on Sky Sports.
The team got straight into training. After arriving at Malaga
airport at lunch time, the team were already training at the
Marpafut centre by 15.00 hrs.
The football pitch was transformed into a rugby field, a few
days before the teams arrival, with rugby posts being installed,
and the necessary lines being painted. Extra weights were brought
into the Marpafut Gymnasium, which the team made full use of.
Day Two: the team trained in the morning for two hours in the
glorious sunshine, followed by activities in the afternoon,
including golf, paddle tennis, or just relaxation around the
pool. The team then enjoyed a relaxing night in the hotel with
some excellent live music from Gareth Christian.
Day three: started with training again in the morning, followed
by afternoon activities. The evening was spent in the beautiful
Spanish village of "Benhavis" , 7km into the mountains,
where the team were able to sample some of the local Spanish
food, and traditions.
On the last full day of the trip, once training was over, the
team had lunch in the hotel, and then headed up into the mountains.
This time to a village called "Monda" 20 minutes
north of Marbella. Here we had organised a very special day
offering the players, and staff, an afternoon of fun at the
Marbella Gun & Country Club. It was an ideal exercise to
help "team building" and create an excellent bond
between the players and management staff, before they headed
back to England, into battle. Activities included, Clay pigeon
shooting, Quad bikes and Archery. The day was rounded off with
a BBQ on the pool terrace, after which they headed back to
their Hotel Westin in La Quinta.
This trip was an enormous success for everyone concerned, and
we look forward to welcoming the team back next year.
A special thanks must go to Phil Clarke (GB team manager & Sky
Sports presenter), who helped make this trip such a success.
