Bolton Wanderers arrive at MPF Marbella before playing
friendly match versus FC Sevilla
After a great start to the season, Bolton
Wanderers decided to take advantage of the international
break and traveled with the HI Group
to MPF Marbella for 4 days of training, followed by a friendly
match against FC Sevilla.
The team arrived at Malaga airport on the 31st August, and
headed straight to the Hotel Westin La Quinta for lunch.
Following which, after a short rest, they had their first
training session at the MPF Marbella centre.
Later in the week, after a mornings training, the group enjoyed
a team building afternoon at the Marbella Gun & Country
Club, which was sponsored by Purple Estates and Currencies
Direct - The group had a great afternoon and enjoyed the
activities including Archery and Clay Pigeon Shooting.
On the morning of Saturday the 4th of September the team
headed north to the “oven of Spain,” Seville,
for a friendly match later that evening versus FC Sevilla.
The match, organized by the HI Group,
drew a great crowd with approx 15,000 spectators there to
cheer the local team along, and was also shown live on Spanish
TV.
There was a lot of interest in the Bolton Players as they
included Fernando Hierro (Ex national team captain and Real
Madrid) and Ivan Campo (Spanish national team, Real Madrid & Mallorca).
Although the final result didn’t go Bolton’s
way, with FC Sevilla winning 2-0, Bolton’s Manager,
Sam Allardyce, was more than happy with the match as it had
given him the opportunity to play some of his players returning
from injury along with some of his new signings.
It was a real pleasure to welcome Bolton Wanderers to Spain
and we wish them continued success in the Premiership and
look forward to welcoming them back to Spain at some time
in the future.
